Live Love Laugh with Carol |
|
We are back from our incredible vacation in the Mayan Riviera in Mexico with Tania, Keith, Kate & Malcolm and we had such a wonderful time, but it went waaay too fast! Check out the gallery & travel pages for highlights.
Back to reality is always tough and we are in a stressful time with moving and trying to sell our condo. I know I will have to practice one of the more difficult virtues for me which is patience! I love it when things happen right away, though I know it will take time to settle into our new place and make it as "homey" as we have our condo. We are very fortunate to have wonderful offers from friends to help us move and are so appreciative! Amongst the stress we will try with all our might to direct our perspective to the positives including amazing Mexican memories, seeing Ben very soon, Curling for Carol Event and a visit from Heather & Andy. Special love & prayers to Simon & Emma oxox If interested I have posted my latest ALS clinic visit in the Read More Section below. Having a wonderful time in Mexico with Keith, Tania, Kate & Malcolm at the Grand Princess in Riviera Maya! Great food, beautiful weather and Travis took us sailing today. Tomorrow we go exploring Mayan Ruins & Snorkeling. So proud of our Canadian Olympic Team, go Canada! Thank you Vicky from London House Photo for your thoughtfulness & generosity in giving us this most precious gift.
![]() Thanks to those of you leaving responses on the What Would You Do? page, apparently you can sign into the forum using any number of accounts (Yahoo, Google, Facebook, etc) so we'll leave the page as is. I love seeing everyone's thoughtful answers all on one page. So I was filling out a survey today and it had the typical "employment" questions; are you full-time, part-time, self-employed, unemployed, student or retired? Hmmm, that's a dilemma, I have yet to reconcile the fact that I am no longer working, I absolutely love(d) my job. I guess I am starting my retirement phase, because "disability" is a difficult term to swallow when you are used to running around at work! I am learning, however, that so far this disability has been like a full-time job! I have yet to be bored as not only are we busy with trying to sell the condo (no bites yet), medical & legal appointments, planning & enjoying trips, but I have been visiting with many friends and am going to see my men's art therapy group for our annual Winterlude Outing to see the ice sculptures. We continue to be overwhelmed and awed by our friends & colleagues who have shown such compassion & support, they definitely have not forgotten us, as they just keep on giving! (see below) CURLING FOR CAROL 2014 I have officially booked ice time for Sunday March 16th so the 1st Annual Carol Skinner Bonspiel is a GO!! I am not sure yet if it will be 10am-4pm or 12pm-4pm. I will know this soon and can then do a proper flyer. But for now we can all start to think of who we know who might be interested in forming a team. We would like to sell 80 tickets which will work out to be 20 teams of 4. You can sign up as a team or as an individual. Tickets will be $30 per person. This will be geared for people who have never curled before so don’t worry about not knowing how to hurl that rock down the ice. It will also be open to all ages. Teams can be made up of friends, family members, coworkers, staff from other agencies etc. You can also request to play against a specific team so start those friendly rivalries now. Ticket price will include a learn-to-curl clinic, at least 2 games of curling, hot lunch and prizes. We are currently accepting donations of prizes. We are also looking for additional help with planning. More information to come soon but please SAVE THE DATE. Robin MacIntyre Email: rmacintyre@cmhaottawa.ca Thanks for teaching me a new word Robin, how cool is Bonspiel? And how many google searches of Bonspiel will there be after people read this blog? I will definitely be following curling during the winter Olympics! This Sunday we are leaving this cold & snowy season and heading down to Mexico with Keith, Tania, Kate & Malcolm. We are so looking forward to spending some precious quality time with our loved ones who we don't get to see enough. As of today, both my niece & nephew are teenagers (sighhhhh). Congratulations Don & AMA jewellers for winning the Herald's Best of St. Maarten Jewellery store!!! Please go see him & buy some jewellery when you visit our beloved SXM (code for St. Maarten). |
