Lest We Forget

Thinking of Dad as he goes in for his back operation tomorrow, we're hoping he can get back to golfing this summer!

Travis was lucky enough to get a few days off in a row so we had date night and went to see "Nightcrawler", great performance by Jake Gyllenhaal, very creepy!  Enjoying Thai food as we plan for our trip to Asia in April.

Honouring our veterans tomorrow:

IN FLANDERS FIELDS POEM

By Canadian Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place: and in the sky
The larks still bravely singing fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead: Short days ago,
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved: and now we lie
In Flanders fields!

Take up our quarrel with the foe
To you, from failing hands, we throw
The torch: be yours to hold it high
If ye break faith with us who die,
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields

Composed at the battlefront on May 3, 1915
during the second battle of Ypres, Belgium

Big love for D2 and speedy recovery to the links post-surgery.

So strange not wearing a Poppy (yes, sentimental me feels the need to capitalize) - missing home and remembering all the same.

(And Andy will surely chime in that John McCrae was a Zete - Greek pride galore for your blog this week)

xxoo

The flame, the torch, each little light is part of a much greater LOVE that will never end.

We honour you veterans, your bravery and individual story that one day we will get to know. Thank you so much for claiming teriritory for us and laying your lives down so we can live in the peaceful lands we do around the world.
