Pink Lake

PictureOctober in Gatineau
As I come upon my 1 month anniversary of getting my diagnosis (tomorrow) life continues to move at the speed of light!
The love, support and generosity of our family, friends and workplaces keeps coming at us at such a pace we cannot keep up with the thank you's!
I was sad to miss the CMHA National Conference as I am no longer able to work and missed a presentation that I was meant to give yesterday on Art Therapy with Concurrent Disorders.  I was very lucky that my brother was able to visit me and distract me from my complete change in lifestyle!
Fall is my favourite time of year and I had the opportunity to appreciate every moment of it with my brother Keith as we hiked around Pink Lake in Gatineau Park.  Some of the stairs and trails were a little daunting but with the strong arm of my brother and a gentle pace I was able to complete the loop which just made me so happy that I can still hike!  The weather was gorgeous and views breathtaking, we stopped for a picnic at a lookout viewing the Ottawa River and also drove around Meech Lake.  We then went to pick up the new lease so Keith had an opportunity to see our new apartment and had a much needed rest going to the movies for a showing of Captain Phillips starring Tom Hanks (intense!!!).

Had a call from the ALS Society of Canada and the regional director is coming by for a home visit on Monday to let us know about some of their services.  I very much appreciate that it is a home visit due to the number of upcoming Dr's visits in the next 2 weeks before Italy.

Wonderful that Travis's work has approved our trip so our To-Do list has grown to booking and planning the Italy trip this weekend!  So so excited as we have a beautiful Villa in Tuscany booked where our amazing friends Heather & Andy will be joining us for a week!

We are excited to see Brittany & Sean this weekend Sean is a property appraiser and has offered his services on giving us advice for selling our joint thanks guys!

Good Luck to Heather, Andy & Clem who are walking to defeat ALS on Sunday.

That walk around Pink Lake in Gatineau Park looks SO beautiful. So glad you were able to soak up your favourite time of the year, and even manage a hike - what a hero! Keep taking things one step at a time. We are cheering you on cuz! YAY for leave being approved & your trip to Italy happening so soon... all the best for all the admin - may it go smoothly and all fall into place easily :) Love Em & Rich x

So so pleased you recognized your "diagnosis anniversary eve" in such an encouraging way -- all the better with sibling support (shout out love to Keith!).

Cheers to you for even more to celebrate: hope it's another gorgeously leafy and brilliant day for the birthday girl and you fill it with all your favourite things. Hugs and love from afar until we can toast you with Italian goodness!

And thanks for the good wishes - Clementine is proud to share with her Aunt Carol that we've got one more practice today and then she's ready for the big walk tomorrow! She's sending sniffs and licks and love too. Anyone interested in learning more or coming with us tomorrow - it's not too late! See Events & Calendar for the link.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEAUTIFUL GIRL! xxoo

Fantastic that its all a go for Italy! We will have to have pasta for our Monday evening dinner with the family in celebration :-) As it happens we had macaroni cheese last Monday night, must have been prophetic :-)
Just emailed you a pic of a non New Zealand resident. Looks like he may have come from up your way.
Much love
Dad Allan
