Still Fighting...

Canadians don't give up.  We are passionate about many things and even though we often face disappointment by our beloved Hockey Teams, we are not fickle fans and cheer for them regardless!

Sometimes I wonder and fear what is happening in this world.  Terror attacks, hate, disease, discrimination, #Brexit, #Subbexit, Trump, animal cruelty, the news can be a depressing thing to watch.

But then a little thing like Canada Day comes along and it renews my faith in people.  I am proud to be Canadian.  We are a nation that is inclusive, multicultural, compassionate, silly, polite, progressive and kind.

As difficult as this year has been, I have not yet stopped fighting.  Fighting to survive, fighting to appreciate life, fighting to keep the passion within me alive and fighting for advocacy for ALS.  After experiencing both emotional and physical exhaustion from my recent infection, I wasn't sure if I had anything left in me.  Well, the message came loud and clear last week that I am not done.  I am so grateful for all of the supportive feedback I have been receiving on sharing my story.  It truly keeps me moving forward.

Please visit my media page regarding my latest advocacy efforts including an article in the Ottawa Citizen, being the recipient of Camp YMCA Kanawana's PIP Award, and being showcased for Day 24 for ALS Canada's "Seize the 30 Days" Campaign.

Of course I can't do it alone.  My husband Travis is also a fighter.  I am so proud to announce that he has been promoted to the Executive Sous-Chef of the Brookstreet Hotel.  He has worked so hard and is so deserving of this position.

During the more difficult days Travis is by my side rooting for me, caring for me, sitting with me and loving me just as I am.  Lucky Girl indeed.
