Buddy is much more comfortable with my power chair than I am!

When 27-year-old Pete Frates injured his wrist in a baseball game, he got an unexpected diagnosis: it wasn’t a broken bone, it was ALS. Better known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, ALS causes paralysis and death—there is no cure. And still, Pete saw an opportunity to drive awareness about the disease. In a brave talk, his mom Nancy Frates tells the story of how the family developed the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and took great pleasure in seeing everyone from Justin Timberlake to Bill Gates take part. If you accepted the challenge, please take the next step: share this talk as you did your challenge video.

Inspiring family, I am so appreciative of their tenacity.

It's a war on ALS and a A Love Story all at the same time and it makes me think of Johhny Clegg's song: "its a cruel, crazy beautful world...and I cant' stop crying.

We sure do have different roles to play and to dig deep and find that part of ourself that says, " this is what I can do", is so much bigger than our individuality. Millions have been raised to find a cure and awareness has magnified... it's a train gathering momementum and it's pretty amazing.

No single person can do this but it takes every single person to come together in their uniquness and true to self way.

When Nancy spoke about the elephant in the room and the lack of collaboration, I really felt that is exactly what will change our world, knowing we are not all that separate, that we think we are all separate but I dont think we are as separate as we appear.

Imagine a world that realises its potential when it unites in love!

Carol, you are uniting the world through this. You are bringing out the passion that overides fear. Your true self, the heart of Carol that we adore about you is so precious, the caring, loving, witty, positive, adventurous, resourceful , forward thinking, grateful, trustworthy, kind and generous...and despite this digusting disease that robs muscle power and physical independence I believe your soul and mind is encircled and your beauty and loveliness and all the qaulities that are rooted deep within are circling around you, bringing in more love, care, humour, hope, courage. Even when you may not feel you are these things , you are, even if your body can't show it or feel it, you are still beautiful you. You are part of a much bigger body. You are LOVED !

In hope and Love you are strong and courageous. You don't have to do anything except allow yourself to be loved, to be cherished and to rest in the bigger body that is surrounding you. x

Love you. xxx
